Tier 1 Applications
Tier 1 currently deals with the following categories:
1. Exceptional Talent:
This route is for those who are internationally recognised as world leaders or potential world-leading talent in the fields of science and arts and who wish to work in the UK. Applicants must be internationally recognised as world leaders in their field. Under Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent), an applicant must score 75 points for attributes (Appendix A of the Immigration Rules);
2. Entrepreneur
This category is for non-European migrants who want to invest in the UK by setting up or taking over, and being actively involved in the running businesses in the UK. An applicant must score 95 points in total consisting of at least 75 points for attributes (Appendix A of the Immigration Rules);10 points for English language (Appendix B of the Immigration Rules); and 10 points for maintenance (funds) (Appendix C of the Immigration Rules)
3. Investor
The investor category is designed to allow high net worth individuals make a substantial financial investment in the UK. When you apply, you are awarded points based on your ability to invest £1,000,000 in the UK. You can score the required 75 points if you have money of your own held in a regulated financial institution and disposable in the United Kingdom amounting to no less than £1,000,000.
Tier 2 Applications
In addition to the Sponsored Skilled Workers, this particular Tier also deals with the following routs:
1. Tier 2 (General) Sponsored Skilled Workers
This category is for foreign nationals who have a skilled job offer to fill a gap in the workforce that cannot be filled by a settled worker. You must have a sponsor and a valid certificate of sponsorship. Points are awarded based on your salary and allowances, sponsorship, English language skills and available maintenance (funds).
2. Minister of Religion
This category is for people who want to take up employment or posts or roles within their faith communities in the UK as: ministers of religion undertaking preaching and pastoral work, missionaries or members of religious orders.
3. Sportsperson
This category is for elite sportspeople and coaches who are internationally established at the highest level, and will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport. To apply under this route, you must have a sponsor and a valid certificate of sponsorship with a governing body endorsement number. However, points are based on your certificate of sponsorship, English language skills and available maintenance (funds).
4. Intra Company Transfer
This category is for employees of multinational companies who are being transferred by their overseas employer to a UK branch of the organisation, consisting of four sub -categories: Long-term staff, Short-term staff, Graduate trainee and Skills transfer. You must have a sponsor and a valid certificate of sponsorship to apply under this category. Points are awarded on the basis of your salary and allowances, sponsorship and available maintenance (funds).
Tier 4 Applications (Student Visa)
To apply under the Tier 4 (Student) of the point based system, the applicant must meet the full requirements of the Immigration Rules and must score 40 points in total by securing 30 points for having a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a Tier 4 sponsor and 10 points for having enough money to cover course fees and monthly living costs (also known as maintenance or funds)
